The definition of enthusiasm: “A feeling of energetic interest in a particular subject or activity and an eagerness to be involved in it.”
I think everyone will agree that an enthusiastic person will perform better in everything they do (work, play or sport) than an unenthusiastic one (being the same person), on the same task. The key is to be enthusiastic about what you do, and you will do it better rather than not. It always sounds easier than what it is. But, it does not need to be impossible to achieve. So, how do I become, or stay enthusiastic about what I do?
When observing children playing a new game, it is easy to spot the enthusiasm. Their eyes sparkle, and they cannot control it and sometimes just let go by shouting of joy and eagerness. We can learn a lot from our children when it comes to this. Occasionally, we need to step back from it all and observe ourselves with the question: “Am I enjoying what I am doing?” If you do not enjoy what you are doing, what is the point of doing it? Sure, there are times that we need to endure the “not so nice” times to be able to enjoy the fruits of what we’ve done. But our attitude towards these more challenging times must be focused on what our desired result is. What we work towards must be worth the effort. To be enthusiastic about something links to the question from a previous blog: “What do I want?” If the answer to this question does not spark enthusiasm in you, it is not really what you want.
Henry Ford famously said, “You can do anything if you have enthusiasm… Enthusiasm is the spark in your eye, the swing in your gait, the grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of your will, and your energy to execute your ideas. Enthusiasm is at the bottom of all progress. With it, there can only be accomplishment. Without it, there are only alibis.”
Ask yourself about your enthusiasm, to everything you do. Be honest with yourself and take the time to reflect on this. Going through life, unenthusiastically, will only hamper your ability to succeed. Being positive in everything you do will only help you do it better. Motivation will get you to start; enthusiasm will keep you going, and habit will feed your passion and enthusiasm.
Napoleon Hill also said, “enthusiasm in life is an essential ingredient for success. Enthusiasm energizes refreshes and motivates the person endowed with it.
”Enthusiasm is what we strive towards at Resource Complete. No matter what, we are all enthusiastic in our jobs and to live life. That is what we are all about.”
